Beau fraisier is a popular neighborhood in Algiers near the famous Bab El Oued. In 2006, Pascale Bougeault spends a stay there with the family of her friend Zineb. The sketches she brings back will inspire Habib Tengour, a poet and ethnologist specializing in the exploration of the life of Maghrebi exiles in France.

Poet and draftswoman will deepen this dialogue, between themselves as well as with the people, during an artist residency spent together in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (Maison de la Poésie).

A first result will be published, in 2007, in the form of the album Beau Fraisier, published by l'Amandier.

In 2018 Berlin author and editor Tanja Langer resumes work on Beau Fraisier with this new French-German edition translated by Regina Keil-Sagawe, and published by Bübül Verlag in Berlin.
